Genova Red Active Serum

Red Active Serum for Sensitive and Reactive Skin: Targeted Support for Facial Redness and Skin Sensitivity

Facial redness and skin sensitivity are common concerns for many women, particularly during perimenopause and menopause, when falling estrogen levels can affect the skin's barrier function and increase reactivity. Triggers such as temperature changes, certain foods, skincare products, or environmental factors can cause the skin to flush, feel tight, or appear persistently red.

Genova Red Active Serum is formulated with two peptide-based active ingredients, Telangyn™ and Delisens™, designed to support calmer, more comfortable skin over time. With consistent use, skin may gradually appear less reactive and more even in tone. Results vary, and most people notice an initial improvement within 6-8 weeks of daily application.

  • Close-up of facial redness and flushing on the cheek, a common sensitive skin concern that may respond to targeted skincare for redness-prone skin

    Sudden Flushing

Menopausal hormone fluctuations can trigger sudden facial flushing in response to heat, stress, or food, as blood vessels near the skin's surface become more reactive.

  • Close-up of redness around the nose and cheeks, showing visible facial flushing often associated with sensitive skin and rosacea-type concerns

    Persistent Skin Redness

Falling estrogen weakens the skin's barrier and increases inflammation, leaving redness that lingers longer and becomes harder to calm with standard skincare.

  • Close-up of persistent redness and irritation on the chin and jawline, a common facial redness concern that may benefit from soothing skincare ingredients

    Product Sensitivity

Menopausal skin reacts to ingredients it once tolerated. Harsh actives and fragranced products can strip the already compromised barrier, making redness worse.

  • Close-up of visible redness and broken capillaries on the cheek near the nose, showing diffuse facial redness that targeted skincare may help calm over time

    Visible Blood Vessels

Chronic inflammation during menopause can dilate capillaries near the skin's surface, creating visible redness and thread veins that don't resolve on their own.

Key Benefit

Why Your Skin Flushes More Than It Used To

Menopausal estrogen decline triggers chronic low-level inflammation that leaves skin flushed, reactive, and uneven. Telangyn™ in this serum is a peptide specifically designed to reduce the appearance of facial redness by targeting the inflammatory pathways that cause blood vessels to dilate. Delisens™ works alongside it to calm and soothe reactive skin, helping to restore a more even, settled complexion.

"I've always been on the lookout for something that would work with my sensitive skin. I've tried so many products." - Kay

Key Benefit

Redness That Won't Settle on Its Own

Chronic facial redness during menopause isn't a sensitivity issue you can moisturise away. It's driven by inflammation and dilated blood vessels beneath the surface. Telangyn™ in this serum targets those inflammatory pathways directly, while Delisens™ calms reactivity, helping skin return to a more even, settled tone with consistent use.

"Having dealt with rosacea as a child, I've always been on the lookout for something that would work with my sensitive skin. I've tried so many products." - Kay

Key Benefit

Why Products That Used to Work Now Sting

Estrogen plays a critical role in maintaining your skin's protective barrier. As levels fall during menopause, that barrier weakens, letting moisture escape and irritants in. Delisens™ in this serum helps rebuild barrier function by calming the inflammatory response that keeps skin reactive, while the lightweight formula adds hydration without triggering the sensitivity it's designed to treat.

"I am absolutely blown away by my results with Genova Skincare. Having dealt with rosacea as a child, I've always been on the lookout for something that would work with my sensitive skin." - Kay

Calms Without Stripping What Your Skin Needs

Menopausal skin needs hydration and calming in the same step, not one at the expense of the other. This lightweight serum absorbs quickly without residue, delivering Telangyn™ and Delisens™ to reduce redness and reactivity while supporting moisture retention. Fast-absorbing, non-greasy, and gentle enough for twice-daily use on skin that reacts to almost everything else.

"I've always had sensitive, reactive skin and tried so many products over the years without much improvement. After using Genova's Red Active Serum consistently, I've noticed a real difference in how calm and even my skin looks. Very happy with it." - Kay

Fits Into Your Routine Without Irritating What It's Treating

Most redness-prone skin can't tolerate heavy creams or fragranced products. This serum absorbs in seconds with no residue, layers cleanly under moisturiser and sunscreen, and is formulated without the harsh actives that trigger the reactivity it's designed to calm. The airless pump keeps Telangyn™ and Delisens™ stable and effective for up to 24 months.

Who This Serum Is For

  • Women in perimenopause or menopause experiencing increased facial redness, flushing, or skin reactivity linked to hormonal changes
  • Women with generally sensitive or reactive skin who notice redness triggered by temperature changes, certain foods, alcohol, stress, or skincare products
  • Anyone looking for a gentle, peptide-based serum designed specifically to support calmer-looking skin rather than just general hydration
  • Women who have found that their previous skincare products no longer suit their skin or seem to cause more irritation than before
  • Those willing to commit to consistent twice-daily application for a minimum of 6-8 weeks and who understand that skin reactivity improves gradually with consistent care

Who This Serum Is Not For

  • Women with diagnosed rosacea seeking a treatment product. Rosacea is a medical condition that requires professional assessment and management. While some women with mild facial redness may find this serum supportive, it is not formulated to treat rosacea and should not be used as a substitute for medical advice or prescribed treatments
  • Anyone experiencing facial redness accompanied by persistent bumps, pustules, thickening skin, or eye irritation. These symptoms may indicate a condition that requires dermatological assessment rather than a cosmetic serum
  • Women with known sensitivity to any of the listed ingredients. Always patch test on a small area before first use, particularly if your skin is currently irritated or reactive
  • Anyone expecting immediate relief from flushing episodes. This serum is designed to support calmer-looking skin over time with consistent daily use, not to provide instant relief during an active flush
  • Those seeking a replacement for professional treatments. For persistent or severe facial redness, dermatologist-guided options such as prescription topicals, laser therapy, or IPL may be more appropriate. This serum can complement professional care but is not a substitute for it

What This Serum Can't Do

Facial redness has many potential causes, and being honest about the boundaries of a cosmetic serum matters.

It can't treat rosacea. Rosacea is a chronic medical skin condition with a range of subtypes and triggers. While this serum is designed to support calmer-looking skin, it is not formulated to treat, manage, or cure rosacea. If you suspect you have rosacea, a dermatologist can provide an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment plan.

It can't stop flushing in the moment. Flushing is a vascular response - blood rushes to the surface of the skin in reaction to a trigger. No topical serum can prevent or interrupt that response as it happens. What consistent use may do is support the skin's overall resilience and help reduce the frequency or visibility of redness over time.

It can't repair broken capillaries. Visible broken blood vessels (telangiectasia) are a structural change in the skin that requires professional treatment such as laser therapy or IPL to address. This serum may help reduce the overall appearance of redness around affected areas, but it cannot repair or remove damaged capillaries.

It can't replace your broader skincare routine. This serum is designed to work alongside a gentle cleanser, moisturiser, and daily SPF - not instead of them. Reactive skin benefits from a consistent, minimal routine. Adding a targeted serum without addressing harsh products, over-exfoliation, or lack of sun protection is unlikely to deliver meaningful improvement.

It can't override your triggers. If spicy food, hot showers, alcohol, or certain skincare ingredients cause your skin to flush, this serum won't neutralise those responses. Understanding and managing your personal triggers remains the most effective first step in reducing facial redness. This serum is designed to support your skin alongside those lifestyle adjustments, not replace them.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long before I see results?
With consistent twice-daily use, most people notice an initial improvement in skin tone and reactivity within 6-8 weeks. Results vary from person to person. If you have ongoing concerns about persistent facial redness or skin sensitivity, we recommend speaking with a dermatologist.

Is this suitable for sensitive skin?
Yes - the formula is dermatologically tested and designed to be gentle on reactive and sensitive skin types. We recommend patch testing on a small area before first use, particularly if you are currently using other active ingredients. If irritation occurs, discontinue use.

Can I use this with my existing skincare routine?
The lightweight formula is designed to layer easily with other skincare products. Apply after cleansing and before moisturiser. If you are using strong actives such as retinol or AHAs, introduce the serum gradually and monitor your skin’s response.

Is this serum designed for rosacea?
Genova Red Active Serum is a cosmetic formulation designed to support calmer-looking skin and help reduce the appearance of facial redness. It is not designed to diagnose, treat, or manage rosacea, which is a medical skin condition that should be assessed and managed by a dermatologist or healthcare provider. Some women with mild facial redness or general skin sensitivity may find the serum supportive as part of their daily routine, but if you have diagnosed rosacea or suspect you may have it, we recommend speaking with a professional before introducing any new product.

Can I wear makeup or foundation over this serum?
Yes. The formula is lightweight and absorbs quickly without residue, making it suitable as a base layer under makeup or foundation. Allow a minute or two for the serum to fully absorb before applying your next product. If your skin is particularly reactive, choosing mineral-based or fragrance-free makeup can help minimise the risk of additional irritation.

What triggers should I avoid while using this serum?
Common triggers for facial redness and skin reactivity include temperature extremes (very hot showers, cold wind), spicy foods, alcohol, harsh or heavily fragranced skincare products, and prolonged sun exposure without SPF. While this serum is designed to support calmer-looking skin, avoiding known triggers will give your skin the best chance of improvement. Keeping a simple trigger diary for a few weeks can help you identify your personal patterns.

Is this serum safe to use during HRT?
There are no known contraindications between the ingredients in Genova Red Active Serum and hormone replacement therapy. However, HRT can itself influence skin sensitivity and reactivity, so your skin's response may change over time depending on where you are in your treatment. If you have specific concerns, we recommend discussing your skincare routine with your prescribing doctor or a dermatologist.

How is this different from a regular sensitive skin moisturiser?
Most sensitive skin moisturisers focus primarily on hydration and barrier protection. Genova Red Active Serum contains two targeted peptide-based active ingredients - Telangyn and Delisens - specifically formulated to address facial redness and skin reactivity, not just sensitivity in general. It is designed to be used alongside your moisturiser, not as a replacement for it. Apply the serum after cleansing and before your moisturiser for best results.

Do I need to wear sunscreen with this serum?
Sun exposure is a common trigger for facial redness and can worsen skin sensitivity over time. While the serum itself does not increase sun sensitivity, we strongly recommend using a broad-spectrum SPF daily as part of your routine. For reactive skin, mineral-based sunscreens (containing zinc oxide or titanium dioxide) tend to be better tolerated than chemical formulations.
